Would it be a crime to mention Zara and Mango in the same sentence?  I think not!  Because, you see, my love for Zara will never fade and I'm glad I can happily say the same for Mango too.  Which is why I can mention them in the same post if I want to.

I've always got my eye on something or other and this week, I've been checking out what's new in Mango ever since the email landed in my inbox.

I was actually mistaken into thinking that this look was in fact a dress but it's a two piece.  A skirt and a blouse in the same print.  If you asked me to wear a co-ord a few years ago, I would have said "No way!", but ask me again and I'll be saying the complete opposite.

There's not much you can fit into a mini bag so they're quite pointless, you could say.  But mini bags are big, this season.  I don't know about you but I hate filling my pockets until they're full, so if you're popping out for a while and don't need to carry everything with you then this bag is perfect for your keys and some spare change.

The trench coat is never going to go out of fashion.  It's here to stay and although they're available in lots of colours and prints too, I think this classic camel coloured trench is a timeless piece for every wardrobe.

Pleated skirts are another one of those pieces I'm forever setting my eyes on year after year.  Coloured, pattered, textured, you name it, I've seen it.  This time, this grey pleated midi skirt caught my eye and I couldn't resist the urge to add it to my wishlist.  It's the perfect length and will be great piece to style in so many ways and that's what we like.

These textured rings add a new dynamic to the usual polished trinkets.  They just create a new kind of drama I'm keen to try for myself.  I love the rough edges and the untidy look to them but at the same time they do have that expensive, luxury element to them as well.

I'm all for black bags and this one certainly caught my eye.  I like that it's not too big and not too small either.  It's somewhere in between and the round puff design gives it a hint of those casual vibes and the gold hardware adds that elegant touch.  I should point out that this chain puffed bag also has a chain strap (obvs, the name says it all!) so if you want to see more make sure to head over to Mango before it's too late.

Another favourite for this time of year is the chunky knit, and this gorgeous cosy camel coloured one is the chunky knit of all chunky knits.  What do you say?  It's like a big warm hug and would make the perfect pairing with trousers, skirts, or even jeans.

In case you didn't know, this years Pantone Colour of the Year is blue.  They call it Classic Blue.  So if you want to get in on the trend, this dress is the perfect hue.  If I had to style it, I would add a jewelled belt just to bring out the richness of this colour, especially if I was dressing up.  This dress is so elegant with the beautiful neckline, long sleeves and the delicate floaty skirt just gives it a lovely silhouette.

I have a love/hate relationship with metallic dresses and so I was quite surprised that I took a liking for this one.  I think it could be because it's not too bright and has those darker, more muted tones which I'm much more drawn to than the brighter colours.  I quite like the wrap around style too.  So it's safe to say this dress, in all it's metallic glory, actually ticks a lot of boxes for me.

A great cover up for 2020 is the cape.  I don't think I could ever pull off a short cape so if this was in a longer length, I'd have snapped it up already.  This shorter version is great for dressing up or down and in all honestly I would never have thought to dress it down.  But as you can see, it's quite possible and looks amazing too.

You know me and my love for the humble midi dress will never die so here's another one that's on my wishlist.  Great for everyday wear and the floral print isn't too daring either.  A firm favourite with me.

Finally, when I spotted this dress, I could not help but swoon over it.  The delicate details on the neckline add that feminine touch this dress deserves and the sleeves are just stunning.  Everything about this dress is flawless and in my opinion, not juts perfect for Summer, but Winter too.  I know exactly how to dress down a fancy dress for a not so fancy day and I can already see how I would style this gorgeous floral piece.

Which one is your favourite?
January 22, 2020

I haven't done one of these on the blog so thought it would be a good idea to share my favourite top picks from the New In section in Topshop.  There are a lot of gorgeous pieces that have arrived in Topshop recently and surprisingly for me, I've found a new favourite colour; sage.  I don't know what it is about that colour I love so much but it's that tone quite similar to the dusty pink and duck egg blue that I love so much.  I think they're so easy to wear and style.  Before I keep jabbering on about my new found love for sage, let me just show you.

I'm starting with this dress and I really like this one because it shows that you can actually wear a floral dress in winter too.  They’re not just reserved for the warmer Summer months and for me, since this one has a slit, I’d style with a pair of skinny jeans or leggings just to cut the feminine look and give the overall look a subtle edge to it.  This dress can also be worn in the Spring/Summer months so it’s a great transitional piece too.  Perfect for all seasons in my opinion.

When I spotted this bag, it really did stand out for me.   It’s such an unusual but unique style especially with the curve at the top.  Usually it would be a lot more square shaped so this larger version of the small bucket bags is a great addition to your bag collection.  It looks quite roomy too and the handles with a hint of gold metalwork just makes this bag look a lot more expensive than it is.

I love wearing dresses and especially midi dresses.   I usually like to style them with flats; either shoes or sandals and also trainers.  I love that casual vibe and this Floral Ditsy dress would look great worn with trainers too. Trainers during the day and boots for a more dressier evening look.  I like the wrap around detail on the dress and the sleeves in that super flattering balloon style.  Again, this dress is another piece that you can transition into summer too but also has an Autumnal vibe too with the oranges and reds.  Clever shopping to make your clothes more wearable throughout the year is definitely a winning combination for me.

Ok so this, is the new jacket of the year.  It’s a cross between a shirt and a jacket and in case you haven’t heard it’s also known as the Shacket!  I've seen them in many colours, prints and fabrics and I'm sure you'll be seeing plenty of them around too.  I just love this sage colour and you’ll notice that as I share more of my top picks.  It’s safe to say this is my new favourite colour.  This jacket looks so soft and I think it’s a piece that can be worn with dresses and jeans too.

Here’s another dress and this time, in my most favourite colour, black.  My favourite style had to be the A-line shape because it hides a multitude of sins and is the best style for all body shapes.  It is super flattering and looks gorgeous too.  Again this dress can be dressed up or down.  It has long sleeves with a tight cuff and the little dainty bow on the neckline adds a girly touch.

I don’t own any coloured shoes but if I did, then these would be them.  I told you sage is my new favourite colour and I particularly love this tone.  Slingbacks are such a classic but chic footwear and look great with dresses, trousers and even jeans.  They really do give an outfit a bit more of a grown up look.

Blazers are big this season and when I say big I don’t just mean that they’re hot on trend.  They’re very much oversized and slouchy this time and this black one is great for anyone that wants to get in on the trend but afraid to experiment.  The belt helps to add a little bit of shape and I love the length as it’s perfect for giving your overall look more of a sophisticated, formal feel which oozes style.

Speaking of oversized, this gorgeous top is a must for anyones wardrobe.  The sleeves are just perfect.  I can’t say anything bad about this top and it’s not very common for me to find a top that has long sleeves and a high neckline.  I quite like how there isn’t that line where the sleeves are usually joined onto the top and so the sleeves are a lot more fluid and drop nicely taking your natural body shape without being figure hugging.

If you want to add a blazer to your wardrobe that won’t go out of fashion and you can wear time and time again then this is the one for you. It is slightly oversized which is great for layering.  And the vintage look means it’s a timeless classic that you can enjoy wearing with a range of different outfits.

So here’s the camel version of the sage shacket I showed you earlier.  And if you’re into your neutral tones then this is the one for you.  Also the pink and camel colour combination is one to make a note of as its one of those unusual pairings that somehow just works.

Finally, I guess I’ve saved the best till last.  This coat is my absolute favourite and if they had it in other colours, I’d snap them up too.  I love the oversized look.   As I said before it’s great for layering and it has deep pockets too.   It’s just perfect.  When it comes to layering, this coat is the one to help you do just that. Wear your jeans with a hoodie, another on trend piece.   Add a denim jacket, throw this coat on, add trainers and a beanie for the ultimate casual layered outfit for this season.

I really enjoyed putting this post together and I hope I've inspired you with some outfit ideas too.  Let me know which one's your favourite and how you'd style it.

For most of us it would be a total dream to own a Chanel piece (me included) which is why I just had to create a Chanel inspired outfit when I spotted this top in the Zara Sale.  And it got me thinking, wouldn't it be great if I could actually put together a complete outfit using only Zara sale pieces?  Now, let me tell you that if you've ever tried doing this, it's not easy.  I mean, it's difficult as it is trying to get a whole look from one store on a regular day, let alone during the sale season!  But somehow, I managed to pull it off and I'm pretty pleased with the result.

The ruffled detail top together with the ankle grazer trousers gives a gentle nod to the beginnings of a very feminine outfit.  And when you add the two tone flat leather mules in the classic Chanel tones, this outfit already starts to look luxurious and then even more so with the satin bow scrunchie, a highly on trend piece for this season.  Finish the look off with a textured mini crossbody bag reminiscent of the iconic and timeless Chanel boucle jacket.  And there you have a Chanel inspired outfit costing less than £70 for the complete look.  Not bad, if you ask me.

Every year, for as long as I can remember, I've heard and read about people making New Years resolutions.  Growing up, I'd get asked the same question as the New Year approached us, "What's your New Year's resolution?" and do you know, in all honesty, I never really knew how to answer.  Because, quite simply, I just didn't see the need for them.  I couldn't see how a New Year had to be the start of something, well, new!

I get why people want to make new promises and challenges but why does that have to happen at the start of the New Year?  Why does the 1st of January have to mark the day you make a change to your regular life?  Why does it have to be the start of the New Year that finally gives you the push to do what you've always wanted to do?

This year is the big one, right?  It's 2020.  Not just a New Year but a whole new decade too.  Now, that's a pretty big deal even for someone that never makes New Years resolutions!

So, why don't I make New Years resolutions?  It's simple really.  If you want to make a positive change then why wait for the start of a New Year to do it?  Live in the here and now and make those changes as and when you need to.  It's healthy to evaluate your life from time to time and see where you need to improve for your own personal growth, mental health or even financial stability.  Whatever your goals are, reach for them as you live your life and keep working towards them.

Why make promises that usually don't end very well, for some of us at least.  And for those that actually manage to stick to their New Years resolutions, well, hats off to you.  You are definitely one of a kind and you have the will power to go far.  But for the majority, it never really lasts does it?

Setting small realistic goals that are manageable are better in the long term than big goals and plans that only set you up for failure.  I'm not saying you won't reach your goals, no matter how big.  But in order to reach your target, you need to take small steps to get there.  When you set yourself new goals at the start of the year, then by day 3 you're usually waiting for tomorrow to get started.

So why not make the most of each and every moment to work on yourself and your dreams so that when the next New Year comes, you don't need to stop and re-evaluate your life and it's journey, making new promises to yourself yet again, because you'll already be living it.

Who would have thought that a blazer would be the one piece of clothing that could totally transform an outfit?  It is this seasons must have and if you haven't got one, you need to get one.

The humble blazer is no longer reserved for the office.  In fact, the classic tweed number we're so used to is no longer the only option.  With so many new styles and colours as well as prints popping up everywhere, even I feel like it's time add one to my wardrobe too.

It's time to get creative and wear yours with absolutely anything.  You can go super sleek with an evening dress or extra casual with a pair of jeans and trainers.  Anything is possible.  So here are my favourites from the High Street.

For lots of ideas on how to wear a blazer with a dress, take a look at my latest video where I share 6 outfit ideas using a variety of blazer styles.

November 25, 2019

It's almost time for the blessed month and I know many of my Muslim followers/readers will be busy preparing for Ramadan.  When we start thinking about this special month we not only spend time making all those delicious savouries but we also think about how we can make the most of it in terms of prayers, good deeds and just making sure we try to be as productive as we can without missing out on all the blessings.

And what better way to do that, than with this super handy and very useful Ramadan Wall Planner from Live Love Gift.  I was kindly sent one and I know for sure we'll be using it in our home this year.  There are usually a lot of dates to remember and for me, especially towards the end of Ramadan when I'm trying to plan for Eid whilst still trying to focus on the last ten days.  It can get very hectic and I tend to forget certain things that need doing and then I'll remember them when it's almost too late and panic!  So this planner will definitely help me to stay organised before, during and after Ramadan.

I love how you can add your own dates so it's entirely up to you when you want to start your planner which is great as each of us have different ways of doing things so it's perfect for everyone.  There's a space for each member of the family to write down their personal goals as well as stickers so you can add in other important dates you'd like to highlight.  It's great that the children can get involved too and use some of these stickers to add to the planner for their own goals and achievements.  A great way to make them feel involved.  It really is just the thing for the whole family to use and see what's happening each day and keep on top of things.

Ramadan is a time for reflecting on your actions, gaining rewards, pleasing the Almighty and creating a connection that will continue even beyond this special month so having these lovely little reminders on the planner are a great way to help you achieve all those things.

Along with that we also have a space with important duas that you will need to pray when you start and end your fast.  Another important feature on this planner which is so helpful are the key events in Ramadan.  We can't always remember them and some I didn't even know so it's nice to gain more knowledge on them and maybe even find out more about them too.

I have to say, nothing has been left out of this planner.  Everything you would need to help make your Ramadan as productive as possible is right here.  Even down to understanding Salah and Eid Sunnah.  This planner is such a simple but clever way of making sure your mind is free from all the extra clutter so you can focus all your energy into making the most of the blessed month.  A lovely reminder to keep you on track.

You might have noticed that I put my planner in a frame and that's because I know I'll probably make a mistake, and then have to scribble it out.  If you know me then you'll know I'm a neat freak so this way, if I make any mistakes or something changes it'll still look great!  I can't wait to start using our planner and I know the kids are looking forward to it too.  I can already see that it's going to be such a useful tool for helping us to be so much more productive during Ramadan.

How do you prepare for Ramadan?  I'd love to hear your tips and advice.
